August 16, the VCS is going well. No issues to report. There is a structural complication of the application that tends to lead to excessive complexity that has been uncovered. Consolidation of multiple files with identical IDs is overly complex. There are three methods of solving this, though we have not yet decided which is best in the long run. This will be dealt with further down the road. Since I last updated we released a new application file which was a bit touch-and-go when it first ran. In the end it turned out to significantly improve the application speed and completely removed the necessity of manual edits to that file and incorporates methods of manual application restarts. There will be another structual addition to that file but, it is in a near final form.

Other less significant updates, the "click to play" graphic was optimized something like 50k down to 24k much, much better.  Need to do: the menu resizing to screenwidth is progressing. Though would not call that a priority.  The menu system needs to be recreated dynamiclly at some point. The Nova Player needs some attention too. Also, sorting your media by genre is under way. So, next update should show quite a lot of front end progress and rocksolid stability now that we won't be needing to work on the underlying framework.

***Update, I was just asked if there are more speed related changes to the framework coming. Yes, indeed. There are about three more. The major ramp up and speed boots will come after the rest of the design work is finished and the images are optimized. So not for a while yet.

August 7, we are implementing a VCS(version control system).  With the amount of files and the different sites that this code base affects, it's too important and too complex to keep running off of different directories. Hopefully this will cut down on work duplication, will assist in making backups and streamline the development process.

July 6
, we recently added back in the NOVA feature of the site.  It used to exist at http://nova.stardustchannel.com but for now, it made more sense forthe application to stay coheisive. It currently has limited functionality, but there are few technical limitations to launching a functioning NOVA in the next few weeks, provided we have the time.
To do list:
  1. Add in more content - Admin section
  2. Finish linking in the rest of the menu system
  3. Enable the comments module
  4. Work on user playlists

We are creating a new theme for the site as well as a remixed version of the Batman trailer currently in development which we are excited about. Look for that in the next week as well.

Dec 19th 2008:
The site is maturing nicely. Adding in some advanced functions, search, changing the display of user profiles by search. In the process of updating the site, NOVA broke a little but, not major problems, with some attention it'll come along well too.
